Scientist I/II (Full-Time)

Join Anvil Diagnostics if you believe that complex health data can and should be acquired with simple, accessible assays.

We are building comprehensive assays for pathogen diagnostics with existing digital PCR hardware. We bring ideas from statistics, machine learning, and microfluidics to molecular biology. We challenge conventional approaches to assay design and the notion that clinicians should have to choose between rapid assays that provide limited information and complex assays that are impractical for routine use.

This role involves advancing and characterizing Anvil’s lead assay (MycoScan) - a rapid pan-fungal digital PCR test from plasma - while leveraging Anvil’s platform technologies to start building new products from the ground-up. At a small startup, you will be given significant and expanding ownership over your objectives. You will be conducting extensive dPCR experiments and will be expected to use existing and develop new analysis scripts for your results to guide next steps.

Joining a team this early is not for everyone, but if you are ready to tackle challenging oligo design problems, develop computational tools, and adapt as new roles and opportunities emerge, then we would love to have you on board.

The Job

  • Characterize and optimize performance of lead assay in new conditions
  • Use and develop analysis pipelines (Python, R, etc.) to analyze high-volume data from digital PCR
  • Develop new multiplexed dPCR assays in follow-on applications
  • Create figures for technical reports and funding applications

Qualifications

  • 3 years full-time industry R&D experience, or 2 years plus M.S. or Ph.D. in biochemistry, bioengineering, microbiology, or a related field.
  • Expert-level in multiplexed PCR assay optimization and nucleic acid biochemistry
  • Proficient in data analysis, visualization, and tool development

Bonus Points

  • Experience with in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assay development
  • Experience with fungal culture and mycology
  • Understanding of mathematical foundations of machine learning and signal processing
  • Previous experience at an early startup

Please consider applying even if you do not meet all the criteria above. We understand that the best candidate may surprise us with unique qualifications and perspectives.

Anvil Diagnostics is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment.
