Research Associate II (Full-time)
Join Anvil Diagnostics if you believe that complex health data can and should be acquired with simple, accessible assays.
We are building comprehensive assays for pathogen diagnostics with existing digital PCR (dPCR) hardware. We bring ideas from statistics, machine learning, and microfluidics to molecular biology. We challenge conventional approaches to assay design and the notion that clinicians should have to choose between rapid assays that provide limited information and complex assays that are impractical for routine use.
You will be one of a handful of full-time employees at a startup that has launched its first flagship product (MycoScan) and is ramping up follow-on assay development. As a result, this role spans multiple functions across R&D, manufacturing, quality control, and clinical development. Anvil’s team members are given significant and expanding ownership over their objectives while remaining flexible to support other areas as needed. You must be comfortable executing experiments independently in the lab while working closely with a direct supervisor to guide next steps. You will also assist in developing lab processes that help support product quality control and fulfillment.
As Anvil’s technologies continue to gain broader recognition from the industry and customers, you will occasionally travel to conferences or customer sites over the next year. Travel requirements will be light but non-zero.
Joining a small startup is not for everyone, but if you have high initiative and enjoy executing independently alongside a driven team, then we would love to have you on board.
The Job
- Execute dPCR protocols for quality control and R&D towards new products
- Use analysis pipelines (Python, R, etc.) to analyze high-volume data from digital PCR
- Support manufacturing and order fulfillment
- Occasional travel to industry conferences or customer sites
Qualifications
- B.S. +2 years of full-time industry experience in biochemistry, bioengineering, microbiology, or a related field.
- Proficient in executing bench experiments with minimal direct supervision
- Proficient in data analysis and visualization
Bonus Points
- Experience with PCR assay optimization
- Experience with fungal culture and mycology
- Previous experience at an early startup
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Please consider applying even if you do not meet all the criteria above. We understand that the best candidate may surprise us with unique qualifications and perspectives.
