Company and team.
The ocean covers 71% of our planet, yet we know less about it than the surface of Mars. Apeiron Labs is on a mission to change that. We’re not just building underwater vehicles — we’re building systems that will reshape weather prediction, revolutionize aquaculture, transform shipping, and strengthen national security. We’re developing breakthrough technologies that slash ocean sensing costs by orders of magnitude.
Join a crew of battle-tested subsea specialists, robotics experts, firmware architects, and full-stack cloud engineers. This is a unique opportunity to engineer the future of ocean intelligence and contribute to humanity’s understanding of our oceans.
About the role.
We are seeking a relationship-driven, technically fluent Client Mission Partner to own the full customer relationship — commercial and technical — for a set of Apeiron’s most important accounts. This is a rare opportunity to be the single trusted point of contact for both the business relationship and the technical solution, rather than just one piece of a larger deal team.
You’ll report to the Director of Sales and be one of the founding members of the sales team. As Apeiron Labs grows, you’ll help define how this role — and the sales org around it — is built.
How you will make an impact on Apeiron Labs’ growth.
- Own the full sales cycle for your accounts — prospecting, qualifying, scoping, proposing, and closing — and carry quota against it.
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders on the customer side: program managers at defense and government agencies, engineers and procurement leads at offshore energy developers, R&D leads at aquaculture operators, and their equivalents in climate and weather programs.
- Translate a customer’s mission requirements into a concrete technical solution using Apeiron’s sensing and data platform, including scoping deployments and writing the technical sections of proposals.
- Generate your own pipeline through outbound prospecting, conference and industry engagement, and referrals, since dedicated BD support doesn’t exist yet at this stage.
- For opportunities in the National Security vertical, navigate formal government procurement — RFIs, RFPs, teaming agreements, and capture strategy — either directly or in close partnership with leadership.
- Keep pipeline and forecasts accurate and current in the CRM, and partner with the Director of Sales on account and territory strategy.
- Represent the voice of the customer back to product and engineering — you’re often the only person at Apeiron who’s talked to this customer, so what you hear matters.
What you should have.
- 5+ years in a quota-carrying sales, business development, or sales engineering role, ideally selling complex or technical products to government and/or industrial or commercial buyers.Required
- Comfort owning both the commercial relationship and the technical conversation — you can speak credibly about sensor networks, data platforms, or similar technical systems without needing someone else in the room.Required
- Experience selling into at least one of: defense/national security, government science agencies, energy or utilities, or agriculture/aquaculture. Experience across more than one is a strong plus given Apeiron’s four verticals.Required
- A track record of building pipeline from scratch — this is not a role for someone who’s only ever worked inbound leads.Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the range to present the same material credibly to a program manager, a field engineer, and an executive sponsor.Required
- Comfort with ambiguity and a startup pace — you’ll be building process as you go, not executing an established playbook.Required
It’d be great if you also had these.
- Familiarity with federal procurement mechanics (FAR, RFI/RFP/RFQ processes, teaming agreements) — especially valuable for candidates focused on the National Security vertical.Nice to have
- A technical background (oceanography, marine engineering, IoT/sensor systems, or similar) that shortens the distance between a customer’s mission need and a workable deployment design.Nice to have
- Existing relationships within maritime domain awareness, offshore energy, climate research, or aquaculture communities.Nice to have
Career path.
This role is intentionally structured to grow. You’ll start as a Client Mission Partner, owning the relationship and the technical solution together for your accounts. As Apeiron Labs scales, dedicated BD/Capture and post-sale support roles will build out around this position — but the relationship-plus-solutioning core of the role stays exactly as it is today.
