Position Overview
Axoft developed the most advanced high-performance soft materials for hardware-biology interfaces. Our Materials platform continues to expand to new applications, and the team continuously develops new polymers through custom synthesis to meet demanding mechanical, processing, and biostability requirements. We are looking for individuals who deliver results, solve hard problems with clarity, and bring strong technical and interpersonal competence.
As a Polymer Chemist, you will contribute to the production of Fleuron polymers, and drive synthesis and development of new polymers for Axoft’s next-generation applications.
Your responsibilities:
Plan and execute routine and advanced polymer synthesis work with minimal supervision.
Analyze and document experiments, communicating findings clearly.
Draft work instructions, maintain quality documentation, and support the QMS in alignment with ISO-9001, including production engineering documentation and process workflows.
Manage chemical inventory, storage, and safe disposal.
Handle multiple lab tasks efficiently under time constraints.
Candidate routinely practices good chemical hygiene and adheres to safety protocols.
Take on complex synthesis challenges, including molecular weight control, end-group tuning, reproducibility, and new macromolecular designs, with rigor and persistence.
Key qualifications:
PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
Hands-on, effective, and independent in a chemistry lab setting.
Skilled with organic solvents and chemical reagents, precise execution of synthesis protocols, and accurate documentation.
Proficient in handling air- and moisture-sensitive compounds.
Experience with synthesis of polyurethanes with understanding of structure-property correlation.
Experience with various crosslinking chemistries
Expertise with NMR characterization of small molecules and polymers.
Preferred qualifications:
3+ years of industry experience in polymer R&D or medical polymer industry.
Experience in scaling up polymer synthesis schemes.
Experience with quality assurance related to GMP, ISO-9001 and ISO-13485 manufacturing principles.
Experience in Design of Experiments, Root Cause Analysis and related data-driven engineering tools from Lean Six Sigma methodology.
Experience in designing / testing photopolymers for bioMEMS
