About BlueShift

At BlueShift, we are rebuilding mineral processing for a world that needs more critical minerals. Our mission is to make previously uneconomic resources viable using low-cost electrochemical processing, on-site reagent generation, modular systems, and data-driven process design. We are a team of engineers and operators advancing from integrated pilots to first commercial plants with industrial partners. Joining BlueShift means helping create new mineral supply while building a company where ownership, speed, and technical rigor matter.

About the role

The VP of Commercial Development will build and own BlueShift's commercial pipeline from market selection and customer discovery through sample qualification, pilot agreements, conditional offtakes, and first commercial deployments. This role will work directly with the CEO and technical team to identify the right markets, build relationships with feedstock owners and mineral buyers, convert technical progress into commercial commitments, and shape the business models BlueShift will use as it scales.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically curious commercial operator who can engage deeply with engineers, communicate clearly with executives and customers, and create momentum across long industrial sales cycles. The right person will bring commercial discipline without creating unnecessary process. Success means building a practical, repeatable commercialization model that turns technical performance into qualified demand, bankable projects, and durable customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the commercial roadmap from customer discovery through sample qualification, pilot execution, conditional offtake, and commercial deployment.

  • Identify and prioritize the markets, mineral products, feedstocks, customer segments, and deployment pathways with the strongest technical and economic fit for BlueShift.

  • Build and manage relationships with feedstock owners, mining and industrial partners, strategic buyers, manufacturers, and end users across critical mineral markets.

  • Structure and negotiate priority opportunities from initial engagement through first commercial projects.

  • Translate BlueShift's process performance, product quality, scale-up plan, and economics into clear technical and commercial value propositions for different audiences.

  • Develop customer-specific techno-commercial cases and coordinate the internal work required to answer technical, economic, legal, procurement, and implementation questions.

  • Build a practical view of commodity flows, buyer behavior, pricing, sourcing risk, qualification standards, and competitive alternatives to inform product priorities and deal structures.

  • Partner closely with Engineering and R&D to translate customer needs into clear product requirements, test plans, sample specifications, and commercial milestones.

  • Own the commercial operating cadence, including the CRM, account plans, opportunity stages, forecasts, decision logs, next actions, and executive pipeline reviews.

  • Represent BlueShift in customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and strategic forums, and build a high-quality network from the ground up.

Basic qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in commercial development, business development, strategic partnerships, strategic sourcing, supply chain, commodity markets, project development, industrial sales, or a related operating role.

  • Experience in mining, metals, chemicals, industrial technology, energy, batteries, automotive supply chains, advanced manufacturing, or a closely related sector.

  • Demonstrated experience advancing long, complex commercial opportunities involving technical, legal, procurement, finance, and executive stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting or negotiating pilots, strategic partnerships, offtakes, supply agreements, or first commercial deployments for an industrial product or emerging technology.

  • Strong technical curiosity and the ability to earn credibility with engineers and operators without needing to be the primary technical expert.

  • Strong analytical judgment across markets, customer economics, competitive alternatives, pricing, and deal quality.

  • Clear, concise communication and the ability to build trust with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to operate with high ownership, limited bureaucracy, incomplete information, and changing priorities.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with mineral products, commodity flows, strategic materials, industrial supply chains, or feedstock sourcing.

  • Experience commercializing a first-of-a-kind industrial process, plant, equipment platform, or advanced material.

  • Experience working with large industrial companies, mine operators, utilities, automotive manufacturers, energy companies, government-supported projects, or strategic buyers.

  • Existing relationships across critical minerals, mining, energy, batteries, nuclear, automotive, advanced manufacturing, or defense supply chains.

  • Clear potential to grow into broader commercial or company leadership as BlueShift scales.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and equity ownership.

  • A high-impact role building the commercial function at an early-stage industrial technology company.

  • Direct collaboration with the CEO, engineers, operators, customers, investors, and domain experts.

  • Significant ownership over market strategy, customer relationships, deal structures, and the path from pilot to commercial scale.

  • A fast-moving, mission-driven environment with substantial autonomy and room to grow with the company.
