The Company

Cellino is building a precision platform that personalizes human cells for all. Stem cell-derived regenerative medicines are poised to cure some of the toughest diseases within this decade, including Parkinson’s, diabetes, and heart disease. Patient-specific cells provide the safest, most effective cures for these indications. Currently, large scale production of stem cell therapies is challenging due to extensive manual handling, high variability, and expensive manufacturing costs. Cellino’s vision is to enable healthier lives worldwide with personalized human cells.

The Role

We are seeking a creative and highly skilled mechanical engineer in prototyping. You will work with our R&D team to design and fabricate innovative functional prototypes for fluidics, liquid handling systems, and mechatronic devices. Work across mechanical engineering, stem cell biology, and machine learning to develop systems for handling large-scale cell biology experiments.

Candidates should supply a portfolio of their work and be ready to discuss an example of a successful mechanical project in which they were the major contributor.

Responsibilities

  • Creatively design and develop cutting-edge mechanical solutions for complex fluidic and mechatronic systems
  • Fabricate functional prototypes and execute small prototype production runs
  • Develop testing systems for fluidics and mechatronic systems
  • Independently manage prototyping projects from concept to completion
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and precise measurements on prototypes to identify and resolve design issues
  • Manage component sourcing and vendor relationships
  • Prepare detailed test plans, technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and assembly guides

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design and prototyping
  • Fluency in CAD/CAM tools like SolidWorks or Onshape
  • Strong hands-on experience with CNC machining, 3D printing, manual machining, laser cutting, and other fabrication techniques
  • Familiarity with materials selection, manufacturing processes, and engineering standards
  • Expertise with CMM, calipers, micrometers, and multimeters
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills for design reviews and documentation

Preferred Skills and Background

  • Knowledge of fluidics, liquid handling systems, and mechatronics principles
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
  • Experience with injection molding,
  • Programming skills in Python (optional)
  • Experience with vendor management
