Lithios is a developing the first low-cost, scalable electrochemical lithium capture technology, Advanced Lithium Extraction (ALE), to efficiently extract lithium from the world’s toughest brine resources. Developed by MIT scientists and engineers with world-class expertise in metal separations, ALE uses lithium capture electrodes to separate lithium from unwanted contaminants in brine with unprecedented selectivity. Driven by electricity alone, ALE cuts out costly chemical and solvent use and massively reduces water and energy consumption, ultimately reducing project costs by up to 40%. The result: access to lithium at the lowest processing cost to meet growing demand from the energy and domestic critical minerals markets.
