Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer to support the development and execution of capital projects featuring Lithios’ Advanced Lithium Extraction (ALE).

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of relevant experience with a strong track record supporting complex industrial or process facilities. The role is particularly suited to an engineer with experience in industrial power systems-including DC power supplies, rectifiers, and associated distribution-as well as instrumentation and automation.

As a member of the Engineering Team, you will work closely with EPC contractors, technology providers, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure that electrical, instrumentation, and control systems are technically sound, properly integrated, and executed to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering activities from concept and design through construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Develop and review electrical and I&C design criteria, equipment specifications, datasheets, drawings, calculations, and other technical documentation.
  • Provide technical oversight of industrial power systems, including AC/DC power distribution, rectifiers, motor controllers, and related equipment.
  • Review and support the design of instrumentation and control systems, including PLC/DCS systems, networks, and associated I/O.
  • Understand the electrical and controls requirements of equipment and ensure that equipment packages are properly integrated into the overall facility.
  • Serve as a key technical interface to EPC contractors and packaged system vendors, reviewing deliverables, challenging assumptions, and ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Coordinate across process, mechanical, civil, and other engineering disciplines to ensure proper system integration.
  • Participate in P&ID reviews, electrical studies, control philosophy development, HAZOPs, design reviews, FATs, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Support development and review of control narratives, I/O lists, instrument indexes, electrical single-line diagrams, and related engineering documents.
  • Identify technical issues, design gaps, and interfaces between electrical, instrumentation, controls, and process systems, and drive them to resolution.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other project team members.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of electrical, controls, instrumentation, or related engineering experience, including significant experience with complex industrial or process facilities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with industrial power systems – especially with DC power systems, rectifiers, power supplies, or other high-power electrical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation and controls, including PLC/DCS systems, field instrumentation, I/O, and industrial communications.
  • Experience working with contractors and/or engineering consultants is a plus.
  • Experience reviewing electrical and I&C documentation.
  • Ability to identify issues and inconsistencies that others may overlook.
  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work across process, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to manage complexity and drive technical issues to resolution.
  • Willingness to get into the details when required, while maintaining an understanding of the overall project and process objectives.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an engineer who bridges the gap between electrical power and industrial controls. You understand how power systems, instrumentation, controls, and process equipment interact—and you are comfortable working across those interfaces.

You may have started your career in electrical engineering and developed substantial I&C experience, or come from a controls and instrumentation background with strong experience in industrial power systems. In either case, you are comfortable getting into the details of a rectifier or DC power supply one day and reviewing a control narrative, I/O list, or vendor PLC package the next.

You are comfortable working with contractors – able to critically review engineering work, challenge assumptions, identify integration issues, and ensure the final design meets the project's technical, operational, and commercial objectives.

Experience with DLE or lithium processing is valuable, but direct DLE experience is not required. We are particularly interested in engineers who have demonstrated the ability to understand and execute projects involving complex process technologies, significant electrical loads, DC power systems, and integrated instrumentation and control systems.
