About Multiply Labs
Multiply Labs is a cutting-edge startup based in San Francisco, California, supported by top-tier tech and life science investors such as Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator. Our mission is to build the best robots in the world, and use them to make the most advanced life-saving therapies accessible to all.
We are revolutionizing the manufacturing of cell therapies by developing advanced robotic systems designed to automate and scale the production of these life-saving treatments. Our robots empower biopharma companies to produce cell therapies at scale without significantly changing their existing processes, reducing regulatory barriers and risks. While traditional approaches are time-consuming and lead to extremely high costs for patients (typically $1M+ per patient), using robotics can make these transformative treatments more accessible and affordable to patients in need.

Duties
- Robot Software Development: Design and implement production-ready software for
robotic platforms, ranging from high-level robotic logic to low-level hardware communication. - Modular Architecture: Develop and maintain modular codebases designed to handle an
arbitrary number of operations for automated manufacturing. - Motion Planning & Control: Implement and optimize sophisticated algorithms for trajectory generation, motion smoothing, and collision avoidance in constrained environments.
- Hardware Interfacing: Develop reliable software interfaces for robotic manipulators to interact with and operate various instruments and custom components.
- Kinematics & Solvers: Design and implement high-performance numerical gradient-based kinematic solvers and real-time trajectory parameterization algorithms.
- Simulation & Validation: Design and improve high-fidelity simulation environments with
dynamically rendered tools and realistic collision modeling for system validation. - Fault Handling: Design state-based task management systems with robust error recovery and safety-first
features for industrial automation. - Technical Leadership: Serve as a point-of-contact for technical roadmaps and provide expert knowledge on deterministic robotic navigation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering, robotics, or a related engineering field.
- 7 years of progressive experience as an engineer or related in robotics software engineering.
- 3 years (may be concurrent with 7 years) in the following:
- Design or implementation of multi-threaded or multi-process control systems;
- UR (robotic manipulators or arms);
- Trajectory computation, generation, or parameterization; Robotic collision checking or
detection; - Production level code with emphasis on code quality, reliability, and performance.
