In the first phase of our development, we are using our map of odor along with cutting-edge generative AI to create the next generation of aroma molecules (e.g., the ingredients in the fragrances we wear and the products we use). Beyond fragrance machine olfaction has application across many industries, including manufacturing, military, medicine, and more. Working for Osmo means solving problems using digital olfaction for these customers. We're a hybrid company with our headquarters in New York, NY, a new facility under construction in central New Jersey, and offices in Somerville, MA.
Osmo is seeking a visionary Director of Ingredients Sales to lead the GTM for our fragrance ingredients program. This individual will assist in driving growth for Osmo’s molecular discovery platform by leading strategic negotiations, fostering client relationships, and developing category insights. This role bridges innovation and commercialization, ensuring superior product performance, compliance, and market expansion. Ideal candidates for this position will have expertise in fragrance or luxury industries, strong networks, and an entrepreneurial mindset to excel in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to explain, evangelize and sell Osmo’s captives’ discovery platform and the ingredients it produces to large enterprise clients, such as multi-national fragrance houses and CPGs.
Lead strategic commercial negotiation - across commercial, production and IP licensing - with customers, suppliers and other partners
In-depth interaction with Osmo’s perfumery and platform teams to drive innovative approaches to captive development, customer acquisition and channel development
Articulate how Osmo’s ingredients allow customers’ products to perform better, access new, different consumer segments or compete against existing products.
Develop acute category and customer knowledge.
In-depth knowledge of fragrance raw material palette from supply chain to regulatory landscape to end use challenges and opportunities. Bring vision for how to offer innovative, future-proof solutions
Fragrance reformulation, compliance with current regulation standards, customer standards, etc.
Pro-actively explore new category sales channels and/or line extensions with customers
Research, development and contribute to new Osmo ingredients
Required Qualifications
Proven track record in sales leadership, preferably within the luxury goods, beauty, or fragrance industries
Experience driving growth in digital-first environments, including e-commerce expertise.
Strong network within the fragrance, beauty and lifestyle sectors.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills; you can speak a wide range of your stakeholders’ “languages” from chemist to perfumer to brand manager
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
Entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for innovation and brand-building.
Experience in successfully scaling emerging or niche brands in competitive markets.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Ability to work in-person at an Osmo office in either suburban New Jersey or New York City, with flexibility to visit other Osmo facilities or travel as required.
