Job Title: Lead Engineer at Rehydrate

Location: Cambridge, MA, Hybrid Friendly

About Rehydrate
Rehydrate is at the forefront of addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time: global water scarcity. Our mission is to revolutionize water reuse technologies, making clean water accessible to communities and operations around the globe. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, we're developing a mobile, membrane bioreactor-based water reuse system that promises to redefine how we think about water purification and management.

The Role
We're seeking a dynamic Lead Engineer to spearhead the development of our prototype water reuse system. This role is pivotal in transforming our vision into reality, leading the charge from conceptualization through to deployment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of water treatment processes and a passion for sustainable technology innovation. While the title is Lead Engineer, the responsibilities and impact of this role align closely with what one might expect of a Chief Technology Officer in a nascent stage startup, offering significant leadership opportunities and growth potential.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the R&D efforts for our innovative water reuse system, focusing on membrane bioreactor technologies.

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of prototype development, from design to testing, ensuring milestones are met with efficacy and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development and external partners, to align technical development with market needs and opportunities.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging creative problem-solving and continuous improvement in our technology and processes.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, research developments, and competitive landscape to ensure our technology remains at the cutting edge.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or holding a PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong emphasis on membrane technologies and water treatment processes.

  • At least 2 years of experience in engineering roles, including time spent in academic research settings, with a focus on water treatment technologies.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage R&D projects from inception to completion, demonstrating the capacity to motivate and direct teams toward achieving innovation milestones.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, evidenced by a portfolio of inventive engineering solutions and contributions to the field.

  • Effective communicator with the skills to engage collaboratively across disciplines, bridging the gap between technical experts, business development teams, and external partners.

  • Prior experience with prototype development and pilot testing, encompassing everything from initial design to execution, is highly valued.

  • A deep commitment to sustainability and a drive to tackle the challenges of global water scarcity through innovative engineering solutions.

Rehydrate is searching for candidates who are not just looking for a job but are passionate about making a tangible impact on the world's water crisis. Whether you're nearing the completion of your PhD or have recently embarked on your post-doctoral journey, if you're eager to apply your expertise to real-world challenges, we invite you to join our mission.
