Role Description: Scientist/Senior Scientist (Microbial Product and Process)

Position Overview:

Seia Bio is looking for an innovative Scientist to play an important role on our R&D team to help us grow our capabilities and by extension our company. You’ll be a key leader on the team helping to further advance the technology in Product and Process development of microbial products. This role is an on-site role, primarily leading product development and scale-up of operations, but the role can evolve to include additional responsibilities as the company grows. Comfort with biology, chemistry, and process engineering and a willingness to work hands-on in the lab are essential.

In this role you will:

• Lead product development for key initiatives translating requirements into technical solutions for microbial products.
• Develop and execute scale-up laboratory initiatives using principles of fermentation and upstream process development.
• Creatively innovate new test methods, protocols, and use-cases.
• Work closely with R&D team to ensure progress against company goals.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

Required: Expertise in product development and formulation. PhD (>1 year industry experience); BS or MS (>3 years industry experience) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related field with experience working with microbial cell cultures, aseptic technique and documenting and communicated experiments with a track record of delivering reliable and accurate results. Fermentation experience in an industrial/commercial setting and experience with process design for scaling bench technology a plus.
