Job Summary: Syzygy Plasmonics Inc. has an immediate opening for an industrial postdoc position in the area of Heterogeneous Catalysis to join our technology team working on developing novel catalytic materials for light-driven chemistries. In doing so, this person will directly contribute towards the development of Syzygy’s revolutionary new technology and drive sustainability in the chemical manufacturing industry. Job Responsibilities:
- Synthesize and develop new heterogeneous catalyst formulations
- Perform catalyst characterizations using various spectroscopy and microscopy techniques.
- Operating photoreactors and perform reactivity and stability testing
- Independently design experimental plans and execute them in a timely manner to meet the project timeline
- Prepare reports, publications, presentations, and effectively communicate the key results and deliverables.
- Demonstrate safety leadership in all aspects of the role
Minimum requirements:
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with 4+ years of research experience.
- Previous background in experimental heterogeneous catalysis and gas-phase reactions, catalyst development and characterizations, reaction kinetics analysis, and reaction mechanisms.
- Fundamental knowledge of chemistry, material synthesis, and chemical/process engineering.
- Demonstrated excellence in research with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in design of experiments with good problem-solving skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Helpful background:
- Computational catalysis
- Experience with lab automation using LabView and/or Python
- Experience with COMSOL, Aspen, MATLAB
- Experience with Visio or CAD
