WHY VEIR?

VEIR is enabling a new generation of compact, efficient, high-power, and long-distance power delivery solutions, solving bottlenecks that exist across the entire electricity value chain, from generation through to data center server racks. VEIR's low voltage superconducting solutions are enabling new power delivery architectures in the world’s largest data centers and our higher voltage solutions are poised to revolutionize the development of electricity transmission and distribution lines. VEIR is preparing for rapid growth as we seek to solve critical challenges facing data center developers, electricity generation developers, and utilities around the world.

The Role

As the Technical Lead – Termination Units (SL), you will be the technical leader responsible for the design, development, and integration of VEIR’s low-voltage (LV) termination units within our SL product line. You’ll lead a cross-functional team of engineers focused on developing termination hardware. Working closely with VEIR’s other engineering leads the Termination Unit leads ensure seamless, field-ready interfaces that enable VEIR’s HTS cables to deliver on their promise of compact, efficient, and high-performance power transmission.

The termination unit is the gateway connecting VEIR’s superconducting technology to the electrical loads it powers — a critical interface that ensures safe, efficient, and scalable operation in demanding environments. The SL (Low Voltage) Technical Lead focuses on terminations that deliver power within data centers and other behind-the-meter environments. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership. You’ll set direction, motivate the team, and ensure VEIR’s termination systems meet stringent performance, reliability, and safety goals. You’ll act as the “coach” of the termination engineering team, ensuring the right people are working on the right problems, aligning resources effectively, and guiding the technical path forward for VEIR’s low-voltage product integration.

While not all team members will report to you directly, you’ll be accountable for ensuring that the termination unit team executes effectively, collaborates well across disciplines, and delivers on VEIR’s mission to scale superconducting power delivery into compact, high-performance solutions for the data center and other low-voltage markets.

In Your First 3–6 Months, You Will

  • Gain a deep understanding of VEIR’s SL product architecture, low-voltage termination designs, and integration points with superconducting and cryogenic systems.
  • Apply your technical expertise in low-voltage electrical systems, insulation design, and mechanical integration to guide design decisions, identify risks, and support system-level testing.
  • Leverage your leadership and coaching skills to motivate and align a multidisciplinary team of engineers, ensuring clear priorities and accountability.
  • Establish strong cross-functional relationships with teams in conductor assembly, cryogenic infrastructure, fault handling, and testing.
  • Define deliverables, schedules, and key technical milestones for termination unit development, balancing short-term builds with long-term product scalability.
  • Evaluate team workflows and resource allocation to optimize execution efficiency.
  • Lead design reviews and validation discussions focused on electrical performance, safety, and manufacturability.

In Your First Year, You Will

  • Own the technical roadmap for low-voltage termination unit design and integration within the SL product line.
  • Lead the development, prototyping, and validation of termination systems that ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable field installation and operation.
  • Drive the refinement of mechanical, electrical, and thermal interfaces between VEIR’s HTS cables and downstream electrical equipment such as switchgear, busbars, and power distribution units.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant low-voltage electrical and safety standards (UL, IEC, NEC, etc.).
  • Partner closely with program management and system integration teams to ensure termination designs align with overall product objectives and manufacturing readiness.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and collaboration.
  • Identify and de-risk critical challenges in termination design, field testing, and long-term reliability.

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering (Ph.D. or advanced specialization a plus).
  • 8+ years of experience developing low-voltage electrical components, connectors, or termination systems.
  • Strong understanding of LV electrical design, insulation systems, and safety practices for power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with electrical stress analysis, validation testing, and integration of components into larger electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic or superconducting environments is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams or complex hardware programs.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills — able to align teams and drive results across multiple projects.
