Role Description
Via’s novel technology is the first use of energy-friendly membrane filtration in the chemical industry. The Senior Sales Engineer will work alongside the VP of Growth and executive team to identify, understand, and develop partnerships with potential customers at pulp & paper mills and other industrial chemical plants. You will interface with process engineers at customer sites and internally at Via to determine the benefits, value, costs, and key features of Via systems at commercial scale. Over the course of the design and build of Via’s systems, you will quantify, optimize, and communicate customer performance requirements to internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for building relationships with potential customers and using chemical and mechanical engineering methodology to rapidly model customer value streams and integrated unit operations, relaying those results and methodology to customers. This role has enormous growth potential as Via continues to grow rapidly, scale systems, and expand our business.

Responsibilities Include

  • Model the process impact of membrane filtration systems and pulp mill unit operations to determine the value, benefits and approximate system design.
  • Clearly communicate with customers to gather information, build relationships, and explain the modeling and operation of Via technology.
  • Interface with Via engineering team to understand performance criteria and ensure accurate assessments of long-term system requirements.
  • Build long term trusting relationships with potential partners and customers.
  • Develop and improve financial models and initial engineering of anticipated membrane system design to ensure accurate cost/benefit analyses.
  • Collaborate across the team to share ideas from interactions with customers that could improve the design of Via’s systems and core technology.

The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 3-5+ years experience in process engineering, process modeling, application engineering, highly technical sales, or similar.
  • Passion for understanding chemical processes including modeling and value stream analysis of unit operations, membrane systems, evaporators, etc.
  • Experience in the Pulp & Paper industry preferred. Ideally experience in selling and supporting capital equipment sold into the Pulp & Paper industry or similar.
  • Ability to distill technical concepts and methodologies into customer-friendly correspondence
  • You must be: team-oriented, adaptable, able to balance multiple projects, and love to troubleshoot and think critically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. Work authorization is required for this role.
  • Up to 50% travel is required for this role.
