We are looking for a versatile, hands-on Senior Scientist to join our R&D team to help shape and develop our innovative sequencing platform. What we offer- The opportunity to shape foundational sequencing technology from the ground up- A collaborative, scientifically rigorous, and intellectually curious team- Access to The Engine accelerator community and resources- Salary: $90k – $120k plus equity- PTO: 10 holidays/year, 15+ vacation days/year; 5 sick days/year What you'll do- Design, execute, and interpret sequencing experiments supporting assay development, with an emphasis on single-molecule imaging data- Analyze imaging and sequencing data, draw actionable conclusions, and iterate quickly on protocols- Develop and troubleshoot sequencing chemistry and workflows, from sample prep through data generation- Apply molecular biology skills (cloning, PCR, library prep, nucleic acid handling, enzymatic reactions) to support assay development- Lead key demonstration of XGenomes’ technological capabilities for specific clinical assay applications- Document experimental procedures, results, and protocols clearly for internal knowledge-sharing- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and software teams to characterize, calibrate, and improve imaging instrumentation- Take on responsibilities outside your core specialty as needed Required Qualifications- PhD in Biophysics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field, or a Master's degree with 3+ of equivalent hands-on industry research experience- Demonstrated experience with fluorescence microscopy techniques- Solid foundation in basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, nucleic acid purification, enzymatic assays)- Strong experimental rigor: able to design controls, troubleshoot independently, and interpret data- Excellent communication skills Preferred / Bonus Experience- Single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM)- 3D printing for rapid prototyping of lab hardware or instrumentation components- Designing, integrating, or troubleshooting microfluidics or fluidics systems- Designing, building, or troubleshooting optical systems- Chemical synthesis, modification, or handling, particularly of nucleic acids or fluorescent dyes- Developing and using modern sequencing technologies- Liquid biopsy field- Computer programming (Julia, Python, MATLAB, Linux, AWS)- Computer vision and machine learning methods (not LLMs)
