Business development internship – Summer 2026

Business development internship in a waste to energy and waste to concrete clean tech start-up, reporting to CEO

Description:

This internship is for a business degree graduate student, interested in joining an early-stage clean tech start-up, CemCycle, on a mission to significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from two highly polluting sectors: organic waste management and concrete production, together representing nearly 12% of all annual GHG emissions, thanks to an innovative “waste to concrete additive” technology. The internship will focus on supporting CemCycle’s CEO as she works on assessing the market potential of the technology and confirms its go to market strategy. This is a unique opportunity to work with a seasoned business professional on the early stages of a start-up development and to get immersed into the Massachusetts clean tech ecosystem. CemCycle recently took part in two cleantech venture studio programs in Massachusetts: the MassCEC/Fedtech Climate tech Venture studio program and the Blueprint program at the Engine and has access to those related ecosystems to develop its business.

The internship’s scope of work will include a combination of the following activities. The exact scope will be determined by the CEO based on latest business priorities at the start of the internship:

• Business modeling: Identifying business model sensitivity to various assumptions

and identifying methods and sources of information to further de-risk those.

• Market research: Conducting an organic waste supply-chain assessment for

different types of organic waste streams (client’s segmentation, partners mapping, pricing, pain points, existing waste collection and processing systems) through desk research and interviews with clients and experts

• Marketing and Pitch deck: Supporting the development of CemCycle’s pitch deck for a potential pre-seed round by the Summer of 2026. Iterating on existing pitch deck based on feedback gathered through experts’ meetings (CEO’s contacts).

The intern will report to CemCycle’s CEO, a 20+ years business executive with experiences in strategy, business creation and growth in a variety of sectors.

The intern will have opportunities to meet and discuss with the technical team, attend technical roadmap meetings and potentially observe chemical engineering experiments being run at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA.

Date:

The internship’s ideal duration is three months: May to August 2026 (flexibility on start and end date)
