What we are looking for
Quantum Formatics is seeking an Undergraduate Research Intern (Experimental) to assist with the operation of our core laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This hands-on role is ideal for a highly motivated individual interested in superconducting alloy synthesis and characterization, as well as gaining experience in a fast-paced startup environment. You will play a key role in synthesis and characterization efforts within our high-throughput materials discovery laboratory, contributing to the exploration of novel materials while developing strong research and professional skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with synthesis of bulk alloys and intermetallic materials via arc melting.
- Operate instrumentation for structural, chemical, magnetic, and electrical characterization.
- Collaborate closely with the research scientists to improve synthesis and characterization throughput.
- Follow safety standards, lab workflows, and operational best practices.
Qualifications
- Pursuing undergraduate degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework
- Experience with at least one of the following materials characterization techniques: XRD, SEM/EDS, magnetometry, or low-temperature resistivity measurements.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment working alongside scientists with diverse backgrounds and domain expertise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary
$18 - $25 per hour
